Carlos Marchena, the former Spanish international who played for Valencia CF, Sevilla FC, Benfica, and Kerala Blasters, has launched his own grassroots football school, CM Academy. The academy is aimed at footballers in the Junior, Infant, and Cadet categories, and seeks to “develop in our students a complete football training, both at the level of physical, tactical, technical and cognitive qualities.”

Marchena, who retired from playing in 2015, said that he was inspired to start the academy after seeing the lack of opportunities for young footballers in Spain. “There are a lot of talented players in Spain, but they don’t have the chance to develop their skills because there aren’t enough good coaches or training facilities,” he said.

The academy will be based in Valencia, and will offer a variety of training programs, including individual and group coaching, as well as tournaments and matches. Marchena said that he is confident that the academy will help young players reach their full potential. “I want to give these kids the opportunity to become professional footballers,” he said. “I believe that they have the talent, and I want to help them develop it.”

In addition to his playing career, Marchena also has experience as a coach. He served as an assistant coach at Valencia CF from 2017 to 2022, and was part of the coaching staff that helped the team win the Copa del Rey in 2019.

Marchena’s decision to launch his own academy is a significant development in the Spanish football landscape. The academy is likely to attract some of the best young talent in Spain, and it could help to produce the next generation of Spanish stars.
