Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) today announced the appointment of Daniel Vettori as their new head coach. Vettori, a former New Zealand captain and all-rounder, takes over from Brian Lara, who was sacked after the team finished last in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Vettori brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2014 to 2018. He is also currently the assistant coach of the Australia men’s team.
“I am delighted to be appointed as the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad,” Vettori said in a statement. “I have always admired the team’s spirit and its commitment to playing attacking cricket. I am looking forward to working with the players and staff to build on the team’s success in the past.”
Vettori’s first assignment as head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad will be the 2024 IPL season, which is scheduled to start in March.
In addition to his coaching experience, Vettori is also a respected analyst and commentator. He is a regular contributor to ESPNcricinfo and Fox Cricket, and he has also written a book on cricket strategy.
Vettori’s appointment is a major coup for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is a proven winner, and he has the experience and skills to help the team return to the top of the IPL table.
